THE LIMESTONE DALES OF YORKSHIRE

More than any other rock limestone imposes a special character on the scenery and nowhere in England is this more obvious than in the Craven District of The Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This scenery known as Karst Landscape is characterised by limestone pavements, scars, sinkholes, potholes and the great rows of scars which tower above the dales.

To be more precise this is the area containing The Three Peaks plus Gragareth in the North and Smearsett Scar in the South, by the three peaks here I mean Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent.

I Have been walking and photographing here for the best part of fifty years and although I have shot the same scenes many many times, i can still find new ones
